Our history

Mobiel Centre Market Research was officially established as a B.V. on December 15th 1983. For the first few years, it operated from a garage in Utrecht that had been converted into an office. Mobiel Centre used a bus (hence “Mobile”) to bring market research to any location in the Netherlands.

Many new assignments and developments followed one another. In time, the expanding garage office in Utrecht was exchanged for a new office (1993) in Almere. “The fieldwork specialist” spreads its wings across the country.

Mobile Centre Market Research continues to grow from the central theme Veldwerk+. Key concepts are innovation, energy and impact. The online consumer panel takes off and firm investments are also made in personal face-to-face data collection.

In 2006, the new head office in Almere Stad was festively opened. Business expansions are also in full swing. Despite the economic recession (as of 2009), Mobiel Centre continues to invest. In people. In possibilities. Turnover is levelling out, but the organisation is solid and stable. The market share keeps growing and the first face-to-face interviews outside the Netherlands take place.

Innovation successes follow in quick succession. Interviews on tablets, with smartphones, advanced tools for counting passers-by, among others, new data collection software and dashboards. The R&D department makes it all in-house. In 2020 during the COVID pandemic, MCM Research was the first agency in the Netherlands to roll out large-scale face-to-face video calling research with respondents. In just a few weeks, hundreds of respondents across the Netherlands were surveyed in the home situation via Video Calling by over 100 interviewers.

MCM Research focuses more and more on personal data collection and has the ambition to bring back the personal approach and involvement in market research. Meanwhile, MCM Research has become the largest independent fieldwork agency in the Netherlands. In addition, in 2021 operations were also extended to the Belgian market and in 2023 to the French market.

Today, MCM Research employs around 500 staff / interviewers in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Our network is deployed for various assignments with a focus on large-scale (quantitative) data collection.
